DIVERTIMENTO ENSEMBLE DIGITAL STAGE
The programming and the production of musical activities have recently undergone enormous changes, disrupting established routines and abruptly changing the times and methods of producing and enjoying music. For several months the pandemic emergency brought about the suspension of live programming and necessitated the creation of new projects: Divertimento Ensemble experimented with a series of ‘remote’ activities, exploring new forms of relationships with musicians and the public.
The new paths that were followed have revealed unknown and unexpected potential and they have stimulated the ensemble to pursue the activities of spreading today’s music and supporting creativity and young artists with even greater determination.
This is what lies behind the creation of Divertimento Ensemble Digital Stage, a schedule of online performance and training activities, which responds to the requirements of programming continuity and sustainability in an age of uncertainty.
The project develops the initiatives examined during the lockdown that have revealed the greatest potential, and it supports live programming with the possibility of absorbing or replacing a part of it in the event that the pandemic makes it necessary to do so.
YOUNG PERFORMERS ON DIGITAL STAGE
Young Performers on Digital Stage is a new digital concert series spread over 16 events featuring performers who are all aged under 35, selected from those who have chosen to respond to the Call for participation in the season itself, entering as soloists or duos.
HOW THE CONCERT SERIES IS STRUCTURED
Every Tuesday, from 2 March to 15 June 2021, the series will present a House Concert lasting about 30 minutes on the Divertimento Ensemble Digital Stage, which is videotaped and self-produced by one of the selected soloists or duos.
A presentation by the performer or the duo, dialoguing with a musicologist or a composer, will precede the concert broadcast.
After the broadcast, the recordings of the concerts will remain accessible on the Divertimento Ensemble Digital Stage for the entire week, after which they will be assembled in an archive, also available on the same platform; the performer(s) concerned may request that they be removed from this archive.
HOW TO PRESENT THE APPLICATION TO PARTICIPATE
The Call to take part in Young Performers on Digital Stage is open to instrumentalists and singers born in or since 1986.
Interested parties should send, by 15 February 2021:
• the audio-video recording of a House Concert lasting about 30 minutes, selfproduced expressly for the project. Theprogramme performed must consist of one or more pieces composed between 1970 and the present, at least one of which was written by a female composer;
• a brief presentation of the programme and a curriculum, both in English;
• a photograph to be inserted in the concert programme;
• a copy (or copies in the case of a duo) of an identity document.
The enrolment form for the Call is available at the following link:
HOW THE SELECTION IS MADE
A jury consisting of four Divertimento Ensemble musicians and its conductor will select 16 videos from those submitted, assessing the artistic quality of the performers and of the programme proposed.
On 25 February 2021, the names of the performers selected will be announced and the general programme of the series will be published.
Each performer or duo selected will receive a recompense of 250 euro gross.
At the end of the concert series, an extended jury consisting of the musicians of Divertimento Ensemble and the Rondò audience (season ticket holders and the regulars of the Divertimento Ensemble season who wish to participate) will make a further selection of:
• three performers or duos, who will be entrusted with a recital or part of a recital in the Rondò 2022 season;
• eight (or more) performers, who will be invited to form an ensemble conducted by Sandro Gorli, for the performance of a live concert in the Rondò 2022 season; should the musical programme necessitate it, the ensemble may be joined by Divertimento Ensemble musicians.
