Jonathan Pia, born in 1975, after his musical studies at the Conservatory of Music of Milano, he continued studying modern trumpet and baroque trumpet (with Gabriele Cassone, Edward H. Tarr and with Jean-Franà§ois Madeuf at the Schola Cantorum of Basel and Friedemann Immer).
He has performed concerts in all major theaters and festivals besides performing in foreign countries such as Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Spain, Switzerland, the United States and Uruguay. Jonathan Pia has recorded for many different record labels such as: Bongiovanni, Stradivarius, Divox Antiqua, Opus 111, Dynamic, Tactus, Chandos, Naxos, Brilliant Classics, Sony, Deutsche Grammophone and Astrèe. He plays regularly as first trumpet with numerous ancient music ensembles such as: Europa Galante, Accademia Bizantina, Concerto Italiano, Ensemble Zefiro, Complesso Barocco, Cappella Musicale di San Petronio, etc. In addition to his intense activity in ancient music, he also has a deep interest in the music of the 20th century working with the Divertimento Ensemble from 1998. He has founder with his friends of Ensemble Ottoni Romantici.
In 2002 he won the International Music Competition for Young Musicians – Trumpet section in Chieri (Turin). He also recieved a degree with highest honors in Musicology from the University of Pavia. He teachs Baroque Trumpet at the Conservatory of Music of Milano and Vicenza.
